EVERYONE CAN COMMUNICATE

Expressive Language:

As  skilled Speech-Language Therapists, we understand the importance of expressive language skills in communication. Expressive language is the ability to use words, sentences, gestures and writing to convey meaning and messages to others. It's about more than just vocabulary; it's about being able to express thoughts, ideas, and feelings effectively.

Vocabulary

Vocabulary is a foundational aspect of communication. It is the knowledge of words and word meanings, which is essential for understanding others and expressing oneself. A rich vocabulary can enhance learning, comprehension, and communication.

We offer individualized strategies to build vocabulary, from teaching new words in context, to exploring synonyms and antonyms, to interactive word games that make learning fun.

Grammar

Grammar is the glue that holds language together. It allows us to form coherent sentences and convey complex thoughts and ideas. Struggling with grammar can be frustrating and isolating, but with the right support, improvement is entirely possible to help improve the flow and functionality of language.

Our approach to improving grammar skills is patient, supportive, and tailored to each individual's needs. Through engaging activities and practical exercises, we will work on sentence structure, verb tense usage, prepositions, conjunctions, and more.

By using a range of therapeutic strategies, from breathing techniques to reduced speech rate, to cognitive behavioral approaches for managing anxiety around speech, our aim is to help you or your loved one achieve fluid, relaxed, and more confident communication.

.

How can we help with expressive language?

Whether you or your loved one are struggling with putting thoughts into words, using appropriate grammar, or articulating thoughts in a logical sequence, our goal is to provide strategies and techniques that can boost expressive language skills so that "everyone CAN communicate".
